The Role of Mission-Oriented Innovation in Europe’s Research and Innovation Agenda

Building on Danish and international experiences, Innovation Fund Denmark and Aalborg University presents a conference that blends political perspectives with concrete examples, bringing together leading international actors – including the OECD, Topsoe, the European Innovation Council, and former ARPA-E Director Cheryl Martin.

This high-level, invitation-only conference will explore how mission-oriented work can move from ambition to real impact within Europe’s innovation agenda.
The event will bring together leading speakers and guests from ministries, the European Commission, universities, funding bodies, think tanks, NGOs, and mission-driven companies, engaging in critical and constructive discussions on key themes:

  • Mission-oriented innovation in practice
  • Opportunities and limitations of the mission approach
  • Public–private collaboration for societal challenges
  • The future of mission-oriented innovation in EU policy

The Mission Unit will report on the outcomes of the event and aims to create greater visibility and impact at both the European and international levels through this conference.

The event takes place in the lead-up to the Innovation Conference hosted by the Danish Ministry for Higher Education and Science in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU)
